A striking example of Baccarat’s celebrated Zénith collection, reimagined in smoked black crystal by Philippe Starck. This 8-arm chandelier preserves the architecture and ornamentation of Baccarat’s traditional 19th-century Zénith form: scrolling-hobnail-textured arms, faceted prism drops, and bell-form crystal finials. Starck’s reinterpretation in opaque black (“Noir”) crystal transforms the silhouette into what Baccarat itself has termed an “anti-chandelier,” inverting the brilliance and transparency of clear crystal into something darker and more sculptural.

The fixture is dressed with pleated black silk lampshades supplied by Baccarat. Mirrored glass elements are worked throughout the lower tier alongside spiked black crystal prisms, with each arm terminating in a candle-style socket. The piece descends from its ceiling mount on a fine link chain, both chosen by us to complement the fixture. The dimensions refer to the fixture only, there is an additional 24″ of chain.

A genuinely scarce design object: black crystal is notably difficult to produce at Baccarat’s furnaces, and the Zénith Noir is offered in limited arm configurations (8, 12, 24, and 48-light versions), making this 8-arm size a comparatively intimate and collectible iteration of the form. A bold, sculptural statement piece suited to both contemporary and traditional interiors.
