This polished bronze sculpture by Colin Webster-Watson reduces the reclining female figure to a fluid, biomorphic silhouette, its high-gloss surface catching light along the sweeping curve of the pose. The form is abstracted rather than anatomically rendered; a suggestion of head, torso, and legs emerges through smooth, continuous contours. Signed and dated “Colin 96” and numbered 3/10 to the underside, it reflects decades of work developed between studios in Rome and Palm Springs, where Webster-Watson built a clientele that included Gloria Swanson and Jacqueline Kennedy.

Webster-Watson (1926–2007), a New Zealand-born sculptor and poet, trained in Rome under sculptor Bice before establishing a career defined by sensuous, simplified treatments of the nude, animal, and mythological forms in cast bronze.
