Haas Brothers Malibu Monster Vessel

The L’Objet x Haas Brothers “2nd Skin” Malibu Monster Vessel is a special edition sculptural vessel that blurs the line between functional object and collectible art.

The form is round and bulbous, standing on stubby textured legs with polished gold feet. A single gold horn rises from the lidded top. The surface is deeply sculpted in fine porcelain, with layered texture that shifts in scale from the domed body down to the bumpy legs. The ombre color moves from magenta at the top through yellow to deep teal blue at the base, entirely hand painted over the sculpted surface. Gold accents at the horn, feet, and toes add a refined finish to what is otherwise a wonderfully strange creature.

The Second Skin Vessel Series includes 12 designs, each a limited edition of 15, completely hand painted over deeply sculpted texture. The concept draws from the Mojave Desert. The most resilient desert creatures, the story goes, develop a protective second skin to survive harsh conditions.
