This substantial quartz specimen has been partially polished to reveal a dense network of golden rutile needle inclusions running through the clear to smoky crystal body. The rutile forms in classic acicular sprays and crossing bundles, catching light across the polished faces and giving the stone its warm, luminous color. One face of the piece has been left in its natural, unpolished state, showing the rugged druzy matrix and iron-oxide staining typical of the crystal’s original growth environment, while the opposing faces have been cut and polished flat to expose the interior rutile formations. Small areas of black tourmaline or other dark mineral inclusions appear embedded near the crystal’s core.

The piece is presented upright on a custom black metal stand with four slim rods supporting the specimen at an angle, allowing the rutilated faces to be viewed and lit effectively.
