This set of mirrored dining armchairs comes from the Clift Hotel in San Francisco, an Ian Schrager property with interiors by Philippe Starck, circa 2001. The chairs’ simple, tapered wood frames are finished in a lustrous metallic silver, lending them a sculptural lightness despite their dramatic mirrored construction.
Each seat and seat back is inset with mirror panels etched with an ornate crest motif designed by Thierry Duclos of Mirostyle, Paris, adding a layer of old-world engraving to an otherwise minimal, modern silhouette. The scrolled arms and gently splayed legs nod to a classic klismos form, while the mirrored surfaces and silver lacquer place the design firmly within Starck’s playful, high-glamour reinterpretation of period furniture.
Originally acquired as part of a larger installation for the hotel’s public and private dining spaces, these chairs carry notable hospitality-design provenance from one of Starck and Schrager’s celebrated collaborations. Eight chairs are shown in the lead photograph; one pair has since sold, leaving three pairs (six chairs total) available for purchase. Sold as a pair, they would suit a dining room, bar area, or any interior seeking a bold, reflective statement piece with genuine design pedigree.
