Pair of Monumental Lucite Lounge Chairs – Reupholstered

A striking pair of lounge chairs constructed from thick-slab Lucite, dating to the 1980s. The frame is formed from substantial curved acrylic panels executed as a continuous unbroken form, sweeping from broad sled-style base runners up through the sides to terminate as streamlined armrests. The result is an effect that is simultaneously massive and visually weightless.

The optical clarity of the Lucite remains strong throughout both examples, with no significant crazing or yellowing. The generously scaled seat and back cushions have been professionally reupholstered in a gold and silver fabric bearing an abstract horizontal textural pattern, lending warmth and luxury against the cool transparency of the frames. The upholstery reads equally well as contemporary and period-appropriate.
