Rising to an impressive 77″ in height, this abstract bronze sculpture by Prince Monyo Mihailescu-Nasturel Herescu is a striking study in balance and movement, cast in the lost wax process and finished in a rich, hand-polished patina. The composition appears to pivot on a single point of contact, its sinuous, twisting form unwinding upward through a sequence of curved planes and sculpted textures that shift character with the light and viewing angle. Mounted on its original polished bronze base and signed “Monyo,” the piece commands attention as a freestanding work of art suited to a grand entry, gallery, or architectural interior.

Born in Bucharest to a line of Romanian royal descendants, Prince Monyo survived years as a political prisoner under the communist regime before emigrating to the United States, where he turned to sculpture as a self-taught artist working through the imagery that had sustained him during his imprisonment. He established a major bronze foundry in Florida in 1980 and went on to place his work in public collections internationally, with features in Architectural Digest and International Art Guild.
