A striking group of three hand-blown Murano glass birds, each with an elongated, gracefully curved neck and body decorated in bold black spiral striping over milky white glass: a technique achieved by encasing colored glass canes (filigrana) within clear crystal and pulling the form while hot to create the swirling, hypnotic banding. Each bird’s beak is finished in a rich amber-to-deep-red glass, giving the group its “hornbill” character, and each stands on a solid clear glass foot. The three figures vary in scale and pose: the tallest with its neck arched sharply upright, the two smaller birds with heads bowed, allowing them to be grouped as a dynamic trio suggesting a small flock in motion. Each piece is signed “Murano Italy” to the underside.
