Yves Klein Cocktail Table in International Klein Blue

An iconic International Klein Blue cocktail table designed in 1961 by Yves Klein and produced in France under the Yves Klein Archives beginning in 1963. Conceived as a functional extension of his radical monochrome practice, this table transforms pure color into a three-dimensional, usable artwork.

The tabletop contains loose, unbound International Klein Blue (IKB) pigment, encased beneath glass to preserve the extraordinary matte intensity and saturated ultramarine hue that Klein famously developed. The pigment appears to float within its vitrine-like enclosure, creating a luminous field of uninterrupted blue – both sculptural and atmospheric.

The table is supported by polished chromed steel legs, whose clean, architectural lines provide a refined industrial contrast to the velvety, immaterial quality of the pigment surface. The cool reflectivity of the chromed steel enhances the optical brilliance of the blue plane above, reinforcing Klein’s exploration of material versus immaterial presence. The table is signed to the underside including the serial number.

Simultaneously art object and design statement, this work represents a rare opportunity to acquire an authorized edition of one of the most recognizable concepts in 20th-century art.
