This rare two-door cabinet by Tommi Parzinger is among the most refined examples of his work in fine veneers. Exquisite book-matched curly maple panels are inset with mahogany inlay, creating a richly figured surface that shifts with the light. The form is impeccably balanced. Original brass hardware provides a warm, polished accent that completes the composition.
Opening the doors reveals a well-appointed interior with two drawers and two adjustable shelves, uniting beauty with genuine utility.
This cabinet was executed in 1956 as part of the Appleman commission, widely regarded as one of Parzinger’s most significant bodies of work. Tommi Parzinger (1903–1981) trained at Munich’s Kunstgewerbeschule before emigrating to New York, where his “high-style modernism” attracted clients including the Rockefellers, the Fords, and Marilyn Monroe. His work is held in the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
